Who they are They are a successful private equity firm with a strong track record in the UK and also Europe. As part of their strategy of expansion they are looking to expand their origination team. The firm has a number of successful funds and will be actively launching new funds over the next 2 years.
What you will be doing
As part of a small team, you will proactively research targets, short-listing targets, evaluation them and then developing the idea further. The role is considered as a catalyst as expansion for the funds they currently operate as well as new funds. You would focus on development of specific sectors and work closely with investment teams. You would be focused on 5 - 6 sectors across the UK and Europe including France and Germany. You would closely with 3 transaction teams. Although your role will be one of origination, you might take part in essential elements of the transaction although not closing the deal. One of the key drivers to the role is adding sector and proprietary focus in the areas of healthcare, telecoms; retail and business services. In terms of reward, carry will be offered on future investments. In this role, although a separate focus from execution, there is not a clear distinction between origination and execution. So apart from focusing on key sectors across geographies and originating you will then work alongside the local teams and assist in execution as required.
The ideal candidate for this role will possess all of the following qualifications, skill sets and experience:
• You must be driven to succeed and able to work on own initiative
• You will need strong exposure to one of the following industry sectors: telecoms; retail (inc. warehousing) ; healthcare ( inc. Pharma, cosmetics, healthcare and hospital services) or ; business services
• You need strong technical skills
• You need strong communication skills
• You must be able to work across multi-funds and sectors
• You will need strong valuation skills and understand the parameters thereof
• You will need strong data interrogation skills
• It is likely that you would have exposure to a deal from beginning to end although not necessarily closing the deal.
• You are likely to have gained the above experience from either a consultancy, investment bank, top 4 firm of accountants or a private equity firm
• Fluency in French would be useful but not essential
