Trading Applications Support Engineer

Unix, Linux, Unix Utilities, TCP/IP, FIX Protocol

Responsibilities Include:

  • Monitoring electronic trading systems and server side software to ensure systems are working.
  • Identifying, troubleshooting and responding to emergency situations impacting live trading.
  • Researching latent orders and liaising with clients, traders and execution venues.
  • Escalating problems pro-actively and ensure all stakeholders are kept aware of issues and their
  • development. Collecting and reporting errors and improvements to appropriate teams.
  • Participating in application releases, from development, testing and deployment into production.
  • Working with business, developers and quality control teams to resolve and document issues.
  • Creating and maintaining a knowledge base, support scripts, documentation and procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 2 years IT support experience in an electronic trading environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer service orientation.
  • Strong experience in UNIX environments (especially Linux). Must be comfortable using standard UNIX utilities to debug, trace, and problem-solve.
  • Very strong troubleshooting, debugging, and analysis skills.
  • Previous experience with TCP/IP networking.
  • Knowledge of version and revision control practices and procedures.

Additional Skills and Experience:

  • Understanding of FIX protocol
  • Experience with and understanding of databases (Oracle, MySQL).
  • Some Perl and/or other scripting experience.
