Outstanding Hedge Fund and investment firm with an unrivalled regional history spanning the MENASA regions, and with circa USD 5 billion + currently under management, seeks a seasoned Chief Investment Officer (Emerging Markets - Alternative Investments exposure) to lead the firms' formidable expansion strategy.
The firm itself has executed some of the most compelling and successful transactions in the history of leveraged acquisitions across the region, and have also ultimately pioneered the institutionalization of the private equity practice in the MENASA region. You will be leading an extremely highly motivated and talented team of Hedge Fund professionals focusing on the Alternative Investments portfolio and must have an outstanding knowledge and proven track record in straight Hedge Fund alternative investment strategies in emerging markets (preferably Asia).

It is a prerequisite that you must come from a straight Hedge Fund background. Fund of Funds backgrounds will not be sucessful. Most importantly, the firm will be setting up a new Fund which will, at inception, have circa USD 2.5 billion AUM bringing total AUM for the firm to USD 7.5 billion. Launch of a further Fund in 2009 will see AUM grow to circa USD 10 billion.

You must have a proven track record of driving a Fund forward in terms of your outstanding knowledge of the markets and impeccable approach to managing higher risk asset placements in more volatile markets.

You should be a highly motivated self starter with the ability to make critical and timely decisions, and it is a prerequisite that you will be very hands-on with the growth of the business, and possess the ability to communicate with all levels of the management, trading, risk and operations teams.

As the key member of the management team, decision making initiative, a proven track record of driving outstanding growth strategies, and the ability to build effective and professional relationships with external parties and key members of other departments, front and back office, will be the key to your success in the role.

Candidate requirements:

Minimum 10 - 15 years relevant experience within a top tier Hedge Fund focusing on Alternative Investments in emerging markets (preferably Asian)
Currently operating as a CIO, or very similar role
Solid experience in compiling and executing Alternative investment strategies.
Fund Marketing and Capital Raising, and assisting with road shows, investor presentations and fund performance data.
Excellent qualitative and quantitative skill sets
Proven ability in taking a hands-on approach to achieve the desired fund growth and profitability results.
Knowledge of MENA markets could be considered a bonus, but is not a prerequisite to success.
A recognized degree / masters in a finance related discipline
Demonstrable top quartile academic performance
Demonstrable staff management and leadership experience
Experience with dealing with AUM of USD 1bn +
