Our client is in the process of launching an energy focused Hedge Fund in Q3 of 2008. With significant assets already committed and more to come, they are now in the process of gathering a top tier team of individuals to drive the organisation forward. The initial priority is to source a highly qualified and experienced CFO / Head of Finance. If you have the entrepreneurial spirit required to seize such an opportunity, then please read on.

The Role: Head of Finance

Duties will include:
Managing the production of the statutory accounts
Regulatory reporting and the annual audit process for the fund
Treasury management
Developing and managing the budget process and long term business plans
Developing financial systems and processes ensuring “best in class” performance.

You will need significant experience in reviewing fund's and investment advisory documentations to ensure compliance with the fund's PPM and the terms of all existing agreements between the fund, the investment manager and all other entities including the investors and the supervisory board members.
You will be responsible for ensuring that all transactions and communications among all entities comply with strict rules which set the criteria to qualify for tax optimisation.

The fund will invest through listed and unlisted securities including mezzanine financing which is a highly negotiated and bespoke investment requiring in depth legal expertise. Although you will not be expected to draft any of the investment documentation, you would be expected to be able to review such documentation and grasp the legal implications for the fund and the investment advisor.

The Ideal Individual:
You will be a professionally qualified Accountant possessing a strong combination of commercial, operational and technical skills.
Strong financial leadership and significant work experience in the audit and advisory practices at one of the leading audit firms are a must. The candidate will provide financial control and business development support.

Meaningful experience in dealing with regulatory authorities (Financial authorities, industry regulators, etc...) legal advisors (Legal advisors to the fund and the investment manager regarding not only their operations but also the investment strategies), and service providers such as prime brokers and research firms is a must.
